Eyeshadow Application Tips
Most women want to make their eyes look beautiful, but they don’t know the ground rules related to the proper application of eyeshadow. Though they refer to many fashion magazines and watch numerous online videos, they never seem to achieve that glamorous, Hollywood look completely. Here are some tips related to the application of eyeshadow, which will help you get that glamorous look you desire.
First of all, do not collect a whole bunch of eyeshadow in your makeup kit. Try selecting quality neutral shadow in either individual colors of tans, light browns, creams and grays in a multi-shadow tray. While applying the eyeshadow, keep the keyword ‘Sparingly’ in mind. Do not use the foam applicator that comes with the eyeshadow. Rather than use that, buy a good brush. Start the application with a shadow primer. It absorbs moisture and sets the real eyeshadow. This becomes even more important when you are getting ready in the morning for full day of activities. Experts say that three different shades give a wow look. Choose the lightest shade for your base color. The main shade is applied on the eyelid and one highlighting color is used in the crease of the eyelid. Start with the lightest shade, and then move towards to the darkest one. To give you the order – first the base, second the eyelid, and the last is the crease.
Now when all three shades are applied, blend them softly with your brush. Make sure the blending has been done properly. There are basically two types of eyeshadow – powder and cream. But the most popular form of eyeshadow is the powder form, which is applied with the use of an eyeshadow brush, covered with a sponge at one end, and flat at the other end. The size of the brush also depends upon the eyeshadow application. For instance – darker shades are used for contouring and adding depth and dimension to the eyes. For such usage, small and more angled brushes are preferred because contouring shades are typically applied in the crease of the eyelid. Lighter shades are used generally for highlighting the eyes. These types of shades have the shimmering or luminescent effect. Such shades are applied at the top of eyelid or below the crease of the eyebrow. That is why the brushes used for these purposes are comparatively larger and flatter in shape. But keep in mind that shimmering shades look better on younger women because it tends to highlight wrinkles.
